This is the last blog for Yellowstone!!
The last full day and be start the day by seeing elk beside the road.  We went to Biscuit Basin which is an area of thermals.  I included lots of pics of these.  Great news about this basin is that they didn't smell! We went there because there was a "easy" trail to Mystic Falls.  We looked at some of the springs and geysers and then set off to hike.  We reached a fork in the trail that gave us a choice.  We could either go .7 to Mystic Falls or go 1.7 to Mystic Falls and the overlook.  The 1.7 trail was upward.  We chose the 1.7 thinking we would hike up first.  Wrong decision!  It was a steep goat trail with switchback  UP the side of a mountain.  There were 2 other couples that ended up hiking this trail with us.  We got to the top and NO water falls!  After a few attempts, we found the trail down to Mystic Falls.  It was a steep narrow rocky trail.  The Falls were pretty once we got there!  So much for a nice "easy" hike.

Then we visited the Artist Paint Pot area.  This was another thermal area but the mud was different colors.  It was said that Indians used this colored mud to paint designs.

We left Yellowstone on Sunday and saw elk and bison before departing the park.  We are headed to Idaho as the Rocky Mountain National Park is closed because of the flooding.  We spend the night in Idaho Falls and then we looking for someone to check out our generator which has not been running since we arrived at Glacier.

We spent all day at the repair shop.  It was a comedy of errors that wasn't funny.  The sparkplug that was sold to David at home was NOT the right one for the generator.  Because it wasn't running, David bought 2 more of the wrong spark plugs to try and get the generator going when we were in Cody.  The carburetor was messed up and then they found a broken spring.

After a "nice" bill, we are now in Arco, Idaho.  Arco is the first atomic city.

From Idaho Falls to Arco, it was truly a page from the old West.  There were no houses, no trees, no nothing!  Except for a nuclear laboratory that had "resticted area" all along the road. The caution sign was "Watch for Stock".  We saw no stock either!

Tomorrow we are going to Craters of the Moon and camp for a few days.
