Las Vegas and California (pics posted later)

We are staying at the KOA at Circus Circus.  It is basically a huge parking lot but it's right on the strip.  Their wifi was down so I couldn't blog OR download pictures.  I'm so far behind!!

The first night we went to see the Blue Man Group. We had wonderful seats and the show was great!  This is one show that David had always wanted to see.

The next day we spent the afternoon at Hoover Dam.  Lake Mead was closed because of the shutdown. We saw a Big Horn Sheep caution sign but NO sheep.

We also  went to the Pawn Stars show store when we were in Vegas.  None of the "stars" were there as they were on vacation that week.  We did wait in line to go in the pawn shop.  It was MUCH smaller than it looks on TV.

That night we went to Gordan Ramsey's restaurant, BURGR!.  We had to wait about 40 minutes to get in.  The burgers were pricey but good.  I had the "Hog Burger" which was ground pork and bacon, cheese, an apple chutney, and arugula.  David had a burger with duck and bacon.  The fries were good and they had 2 yummy ketchup's to accompany the fries.

We played some slots and I won and took home $200!!

The last night we went to "The Steak House" to eat. It has been rated the best steak house in Las Vegas for 2 decades.  It was in Circus Circus.  They age the beef for 30 days right in the restaurant.  We had the BEST steaks we have ever had there!  Nice date night. Then we went to see Love Beatles Cirque de Soleil.  What a super show--LOVED the music and it was pure sensory overload!!

After 3 days in Vegas, we were ready to hit the road!

We decided to go to California since the shutdown was still in place. We went through the Mojave National Preserve.  It was interesting for the first 25 miles after that it was more of the same.  A desert...  The road was terrible.

We did see a caution sign for tortoise but didn't see a tortoise.

We also traveled on  historic Rt. 66.  There were lots of trains filled with double decker storage compartments that ran along Rt. 66.

We spent the night in Needles, California.
